The trademark "The slants"

I posted an article about the case of the trademark “The slant” for Japanse readers.  As a Japanese “slant” myself, I’m very impressed by their history to fight against the assessment that their band name is  “disparaging” and “scandalous”.
Yes, I do know well that the trademark should be tested on reasonable public perception or objective facts but not on an applicant’s intention.
However, it is very impressive that a “tiny” music band has been drawing attention to the issue even from Japan.
